Frequently Asked Questions

How to connect a Smart TV or Roku?
Step 1: Connect Roku to the Wifi Go to Settings > Network > Set up connection > Wireless
Select the Wi-Fi network (Barrington Shores Premium)
Let Roku attempt to connect — it will likely say it’s connected without internet. Step 2: Use the Roku Hotel & Dorm Connect Feature When Roku connects, it should prompt: "Use a mobile device or laptop to connect"
Choose "I am at a hotel or college dorm" when prompted. Step 3: Complete Login on Another Device Roku will display directions.
On your phone, tablet, or laptop, connect to the wifi listed in the directions on the TV.
Enter the code from your Roku.
The Barrington Shores Login screen will appear on your phone. This is where you enter the voucher code. Step 4: Roku Authenticates and Connects After you complete the login on your device, Roku should gain internet access and complete the connection. Step 5: Enjoy Streaming Once connected, go back to Roku Home and you’re good to go!
I'm a seasonal camper, how do I get Premium Wifi?
Nick Duda is responsible for the Premium WiFi network for seasonal campers. You can contact him at Site 35 (most weeks Thursday through Sunday) or via email at nduda78@gmail.com.

Payment methods accepted: Cash, Check, Venmo, Paypal. By making your payment before the upcoming camp season, you'll ensure that you receive your Wi-Fi voucher code ahead of the first day.
Is the WiFi network secure?
Yes, our Wi-Fi network is secure. It uses WPA2 encryption, a strong security protocol that protects your data from unauthorized access. Device isolation is enabled, so devices on the network cannot communicate with each other—they can only access the internet. Additionally, the network requires both a password and a voucher code (premium) to connect.
Is the Wifi 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz?
Both! Our wireless networks broadcast on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. Devices like iPhones automatically choose between the two based on signal strength and distance from the router. 5Ghz is faster but has shorter range; 2.4Ghz has better range but can be slower.
How is the WiFi coverage?
Providing outdoor, camp-wide Wi-Fi is challenging due to obstructions like campers, trees, and weather conditions (rain/humidity). We regularly conduct wireless site surveys and update the network daily to ensure optimal reception. If you experience issues, please let us know.
Is there technical support?
The wireless network is provided as-is, with technical support limited to camp equipment. For Seasonal Campers with a premium subscription, basic technical support is offered by Nick Duda (Site 35) to assist in connecting devices. This does not cover installation of streaming services.
Is there a fee to use the Wi-Fi?
We have both Free and Paid wifi. See wifi packages above.
Can I stream Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube?
Yes, campers who enroll in the Premium Wi-Fi network receive higher bandwidth and faster speeds suitable for streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube. The Free Wi-Fi plan does not support streaming.
Are there any blocked websites?
The only restrictions in place are on websites and services that allow access to illegal streaming content (e.g., torrents/P2P).
Is the Wi-Fi available 24/7?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available 24/7 during the camp season.
Can other users on the network see my device?
No, device isolation is enabled to prevent devices on the network from communicating with each other.
Is VPN usage allowed?
Yes, VPN usage is allowed on our wifi networks.
Is the Wi-Fi compatible with all devices?
The Wi-Fi is generally compatible with most Wi-Fi-enabled devices, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs.
