Our horseshoe tournament is all about getting together and having fun. There is no skill required!

  • Each player pitches both shoes followed by the opponent's two shoes.

  • In pitching a shoe, the player may not cross the foul line.

  • When playing teams, half the team throws from one stake and half throws from the other.

  • Games are played to 21 points, no time limit. Games must be won by 2 points if tied at 20 (or above).

  • Any shoe must be within one horseshoe-width (measured across the outside of the open end of the shoe) of the stake to be considered for points.

  • The closest shoe to the stake gets 1 point.

  • If you have two shoes closer than any of your opponent's, you get 2 points.

  • Ringers are worth 3 points each and must completely encircle the stake so the ends can be touched with a straight-edge without touching the stake.

  • If you have the closest shoe and a ringer, it's 4 points.

  • If your opponent throws a ringer on top of yours, they cancel and no points are scored.

  • Leaners are worth 1 point and are considered closer than any adjacent shoe except ringers.

ABOUT US

The Barrington Shores Annual Horseshoe Tournament was established in 2012 in memory of Jordan DePrisco. Jordan was a great friend and family to many of the campers. We also honor Robert "Skip" Feegel, a fellow camper and friend to many. We hold this tournament annually as way to remember and pay respect to both Jordan and Skip.

The annual tournament attracts numerous players, many are seasonal campers and some are visitors for the weekend. All are welcome to participate in the tournament.

WHAT MAKES THE TOURNAMENT SO SPECIAL?

This day isn't just about throwing shoes, it's a day to celebrate and participate in many events. Volunteers work very hard to keep our bellies fed and run amazing raffles.

This annual event is only possible because of those that volunteer to make it happen. Everything is funded through registration fees, raffles and donations.

Donations help with food, drinks and raffles. Please consider donating.
